I always keep my eye out on the going rates for maxima's in the used car market. Lately across the board fully loaded 98 SE's (5 speeds) are cheaper than equivalent 97's. Any ideas why?

98 was the year Nissan started discounting big time. I bought a 97 SE 5sp in 97...about 8 months later a freind
of mine bought a 98 SE 5sp about $1500 cheaper. Nissan
was in trouble and the Maxima was a steal starting in
late 97 thru 99. I bought mine in Feb 97 during a snow
storm. Got a very good price, but the 98's were even
cheaper....SO..people who own 97's are trying to get
what they paid for them minus the depreciation..

This might be the reason !!!!!!!!!

So is the quality exactly the same between 97s and 98s?

99s are cheap too. I agree taht the discounts when new are the reason. My 99 was 6,000 off sticker price!
