Bent wheel, repair or replace?

Hey guys, recently replaced my struts due to a fairly bad highway wobble (and they were shot anyway). Went to Town Fair Tire to get a balance and alignment and they told me apparently one of my wheels is bent and gave me a number for a "dent wizard" that repairs bent wheels. A new OEM wheel is about $130 and to get it repaired can range anywhere from 75-180 (allegedly). Should I go for it assuming it comes out to be cheaper upon inspection? Does wheel repair have a tendency to cause complications with the wheel in the future?

replace it. I've found the repair costs are within 75% or more of the replacement costs, especially if you shop around and the wheel will never be the same.

Did you take the wheel by the repair place? I've had moderate success with wheel repairs so I wouldn't toss the idea out altogether. It is probably worth you stopping by and having them inspect the wheel to see if it can be straightened or can't. If the place is honest they will tell you if it is worth fixing or just replace it.

I hit a pothole and bent the aluminum rim on my Lexus. A new rim costs around $750. To get it repaired was $140, which included re-powder coating it, balancing it, mounting the tire, tire balance and mounting on the car.

A year later now and absolutely no problems. You can argue about if the cost is justified on a steel wheel, but if you have aluminum wheels, repairing them is worth it.

I would get a new one since you can't be sure of the outcome after the repair.
