Climate Control
If there is a Maxima whose condition only works when it is set to level 4 but doesnt work when you set it at level 1, 2 or 3. What can be the problem and how much is it to fix?

Exact thing happened to me a few days ago. Don't worry, its an easy fix.
Look where the front passenger puts thier feet. There will be a decently sized plug pluged into a thin-ish resistor. The resistor is almost certainly the fried part.
You can get a replacement resistor from Maxima for pretty cheap, and replace it yourself. Just pull the plug out, unscrew the one screw holding the resistor plate on, replace, and put it back together. Should work fine after that.

Well, im not gonna bet my life on it obviously, but I had the EXACT same symptoms. You can check it by unscrewing the resistor and taking it out and taking a look at it. Mine was obviously burned out.
It makes sense from an electronics standpoint too - setting for 4 works because that is just straight juice to the fan, no resistance, and if you turn it off, it will turn off, which leaves the resistor being really the only other part that could be causing problems.
Edit: I dont know how much the part was, I just bought my car ('95 GXE 5spd, woot!) from a used lot and when I noticed the fan only worked on '4' they bought the part for me. I took it home to install it because their mechanic wasn't their and the guy there thought it could take up to an hour to do the install (I think he figured you had to take the dash apart to get at it, which i did later, and then only after spending 30 minutes unscrewing things did i realize where the part really was . Actual install once i knew to look in the right place? 2 minutes.)

sit in the front passenger seat.
stretch your legs out nice and comfy like
now, kick upwards with your right foot, thats where the fuse will be.
There will be a visible wire with a plug that attaches to it, about 2inchs by 1/4th of an inch in dimension.

I have mine on Auto all the time and it works alright unless it's really hot outside then it sucks.

Then why is the topic called climate control? It shoud be 'HVAC Problems'
Climate Control is an option on the Maxima that allows the user to set a temp and the system using sensors will achieve and maintain that temp without any user intervention.

I am sorry for the mistake of calling it climate control, but I can not change the name of the topic right now. It was the resister. Thanks for everyones help. However I still have one more problem with the AC. It will work perfectly for a while and all of the sudden turn off. I switch it to off and turn it back to the position that I like and it works perfectly. And after a while it happens again. Anyone know what might be the problem?
