FYI: Fidanza flywheel now available
FYI: Fidanza flywheel installed
The Fidanza flywheel for the 4th gen is now available. I didn't
get an exact weight but the guy at Fidanza said it was about 10 lbs.
and the guy at Star Clutch (the distributor) estimated it between
8 & 10 lbs.
Findanza's MSRP : $499
Star Clutch price: $449
With a $349 Stage 2 - Star Performance Engeneered Clutch, I was
quoted $389 - $738 for the combo.
Anyhow, here's the contact info:
We, SPEC Clutch and Flywheel, distribute that product for Fidanza
and have them in stock and ready to ship. This unit has a Racer's
cost of $449. Let us know if we can answer any other questions.

so I'm not sure where that info came from.
The clutch is from the Fidanza distributor, not from Fidanza
itself as Fidanza doesn't make clutches. They were/are offering a
discount to $389 for the flywheel if it's bought along with a
clutch.
Anyway, I have no vested interest in this either way, just posting
information on a new product for the community.
Cheers,

- According to their website, they say that the flywheel works on "99-00" Maximas. Ummm... okay. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it wouldn't work on any other year 3.0L VQ's?
- Also, there is no posted weight - although I realize that "the guy from Fidanza" said that it was about 10 pounds. Can someone confirm that this does include the timing/ring gear?

A bit more info
My flywheel and clutch arrived on Friday. I took it apart and took
some pictures. I also weighed the flywheel at my local post office.
The scale is accurate to .1 lbs and the Fidanza comes in at 12lbs.
even. I don't know all of the specifics so I'm not sure if the gear
teeth on the outside are what you all refer to as the secondary ring
gear or what but what you see in the picture weighs in at 12lbs.
As for the application guide, it's just downlevel right now. They
did just release the version for the 4th gens. The information about
the 99 is incorrect. I told them about it and they took a note to
fix it.
Cheers,

Updated Info After Installation
Ok, all my goodies went in today. SPEC Clutch, Fidanza Flywheel and Quaife ATB.
My installer for all of the above was Steve Hildenbrandt here in
Tucson. He helps Brian Catts with test-fitting and did the very 1st
install and break-down of the parts requirements for the Quaife. His
comments on the Fidanza and the SPEC clutch were that both are very
high quality componenents with excellent build. He's been working on
Nissan's for 27 years so I feel pretty confident in his knowing what
he speaks of.
With that, I'm done with the Fidanza posts unless people have any
particular questions about it.
The SPEC clutch feels excellent so far but I haven't had a chance to
really rip this thing yet and won't until I get it broken in over the
next 500 miles or so. Zero chatter or shudder or whatever you want
to say and perfect pedal pressure, certainly smoother than stock.
The Quaife has pretty much had all the accolades thrown at it already
so I don't think I can add to it right now. I'll probably have yet
another gushing review once I get a chance to open the car up and be
more aggressive with it.

So your the one who's car was under the knife when I was talking to Steve last week. All this is going to happen eventually down the road, but I'm glad I know who to trust locally for the installs. Brian has been raving about Steve, but I've been waiting to hear some more feedback.
Glad everything worked out great, maybe we should meet up sometime?
Later,
Alex
