strange electric power problem

I have a strange problem with my car, it goes like this:
when I drive for a long time (more than 1 hour) with a speed of more than 70 mph all lambs begin to dim and the radio get distorted and finaly the engine stops until the speed drops under 70 mph all electric power get restored. The speed limit that cause the power to fade became later 65 mph and now it is 60 mph.
I tested the car with battery negative removed after starting the engine and the engine continued to work properly even the headlights were on but when I accerlerated the engine to more than 3000rpm all electricity was cut and the engine stopped.
what do you think the problem with my car?
any help is appriciated.

MY CAR is 99 maxima 5 speed

Sounds like it could be a bad regulator in the alternator. You should be able to get it tested for free at Auto Zone.

I agree with sinewave. The alternator current output increases as the rpm (engine speed) increases. The fact that your power cuts out above 70mph only (and 3000rpm which is about where 70+mph is) indicates an rpm-sensitve problem.

Nothing electrical is dependent on the engine speed except for the alternator. So check your alternator. BTW, very good description of the problem.

No whining noise, even if I open the hood the engine is quite.
