I was told by my Nissan dealer NOT to run the following until the alternator is replaced:

1) Rear Defog
2) Heated Seats (for those who have this option)

According to my Nissan dealer these 2 items can put .excessive electrical load on the alternator and could actually lead to the electrical short or fire. Might be a good idea to hold off running any of these 2 features for a while

Power windows and all lamps (including fogs) also consume a lot of power
