CEL predicament
Ok, I installed a K&N cone filter about a month ago. I didnt realize I disconnected the temp sensor so naturally the CEL came on for that. ABout 2 weeks ago however, I reattached it in the cone filter, but didnt reset the ecu, so the light was still on. Anyways today driving to work i looked down and it was off. My question is does it periodically run system checks if the ecu is not reset, and now it realizes it is connected, or will the CEL eventually turn off, indicating i may still have a problem with the thermal diode?

I'm pretty sure that the CEL resets itself after a certain number of "trouble-free" starts. My catalytic converter went a month or two back and first the CEL went on for about a week and then went off for about two. Then it came on again and I got it fixed.
