car amp installation question..

car amp installation question..

Im installing an Alpine HU with two amps but the HU only has 1 set of RCA's how would i do this can i use y adapters to split. Or do i have to buy a new HU. I like my stereo an dont want to buy a new one though. So please help.

yep. you need to split the signal.

You can split the signal by using a "y" connector, but the preout level/impededance will be cut slightly because of the split. Unless your amps have "preouts", you can avoid the splits. What this does is that your head unit will preout to one amp (input), and then this amp will preout to an input of another amp. It is like a daisy chain. But, only the higher quality amps have preouts. Another option is to get an electronic crossover or passive EQ. Here, you just input your headunit, and split your amp hookups.
