How to get code on 99 max ECU?

I looked at FAQs on getting engine codes by turning a screw on the ecu and watching blinks on the dash. But when I looked at my ECU, there was no such screw. There was a hole covered with a sticker that I didnt want to break. I was wondering if anyone knows how to get codes on this kind of ECU? I think its different for 99. I have a 99 maxima SE.

Seems like there was a thread about 6 weeks ago that said it was a small Phillips head screw recessed in an opening. Said it was easy to break off the screw. I don't think they said it was under the tape. Sorry, don't remember it all.

I think that screw was probably a 98 and before max ecu. How about the 99 maxs? mines a 99, but i cant find a screw to turn so i can diagnose the check engine light. What do I do?

I only have a 96 but I had to push through a piece of tape to get to the diagnostic screw, but it will probably have something about diagnostics mode to the left of the tape in grey with white writing. It will say do not turn past stop or somthing like that.

The ECU screw is in the same place on 05-99s, but on the '99s the screw is smaller and is plastic. Pull off that warning sticker and use a small phillips head screwdriver to turn the screw.
There's been discussions on this before as well if you care to search.
