What wire to tap into to run Harlan RPM Switch for VI

I plan on running it off the coilpack. Should I just splice into it right at the coilpack wiring harness or what? This won't have an adverse effect on the performance of the coilpack for that cylinder? Which of the wires should I splice into?

Yeah, just pick a coil pack and tap into the wire that is striped (it is NOT the red or the black wire)...see pic below. I used those common tappers that you can find at Radio Shack or Home Depot. Should be safe--cuts the jacket but not the copper wire. I wrapped the splice with electrical tape and then zip-tied the end to prevent it from getting pulled out in the event of a tug.

Edit: tap not 'splice'

Or you can buy an actual wire tap at radioshack. Much more permanent, and much safer.

Wire taps are good if you leave the existing wire (no cutting), but if you do cut I would NOT recommend using connectors especially on something as important as a coil pack. If you decide to cut the wire at least solder and heat shrink your work. Like Carleton said tap the wire that's not 12v (red) or ground (black).

Soldering is the best way. I'm usually lazy, so I just use wire taps.

Yeah, I said splicer instead of taps, but I guess that means something entirely different. You definitely want taps...
