Not sure exactly how, but I'm guessing they put it on a rag or something and wipe everything down. I can ask the lot guys at work tomorrow and post.

I just used engine degreaser. Make sure if you have a new intake that you put a plastic bag or something over the filter and do your best to put something similar over the AC air intake or your interior will STINK for a few days.

I just took it to one of those do it yourself car washes, sprayed the degreaser all over the engine, shut the hood, washed the car, then used the rinse setting on the hose WITHOUT holding the trigger down. Has a nice low pressure mist/spray to it. Just watch the dirt fall away.

Check my homepage to see what it looked like before, I'll get some pics soon of the "after" portion.

Check with your local car wash, a lot of Car washes will steam clean your engine for you. And you won't have engine oil in front of your house or on your lawn.

Its a product called CD-2 Engine Cleaning System. You can find it at advanced auto and probably any other auto parts store. It's a two step process thus the two spray cans. First you cover all the electrical components with saran wrap or whatever you can fine (specifically the alternator and battery terminals) next you spray on the cleaner and wait. 15 to 20 minutes later you go out and hose of the engine bay and bam... wheres all the dirt and dust. Next you start your car and let it idle for about 15 to 20 minutes to help dry out the engine bay. Last step is to spray the finishing spray all over the engine bay, this is the equivalent of a protectant spray it also gives the plastic a slight gloss. Let this dry for 15 minutes then wipe up the excess. Presto, engine should look almost brand new.

I agree CD-2 is the best by far, but you can't get your hands on it now a days. I've tried Advanced Auto, Auto Zone, and Pep Boys, but all they carry is the details. Click for a pic.

ummm how often do you guys look at your engine's (besides people who are in car shows)? Is there really any benefit of cleaning the engine bay besides it looking better? None of my friends would notice my engine was clean even if I opened the hood and showed them.

The VQ30DE is my favorite part of my A32. I show it to all my friends. The engine is the reason many of us end up with Maximas.
