strut problems

I got the progress springs from custommaxima.com and my friend put them on for me, but he wasnt careful enough when getting the springs off so he broke my two rear struts, now almost a month later my front right one blew. I have a 96 SE with 99K on it, is that just the lifespan of the struts or is it because of the springs too.
Thanx

How in the world did he break your struts?

99K is a lot of miles for stock struts & shocks, I'm sure your suspension just said "Thats it, I'm done!"

I would never have installed springs on struts with that many miles on them.

Yep, 99K is a lot of miles for stock struts. I'm still on my stock struts/springs at 103K with no problems, but I'll be changing them out soon. I just need an excuse to get aftermarket suspension....

Here's your excuses:

1) Aftermarket is cheaper then OEM replacements!

2) Can you say 4x4?

3) You want to put the "Enjoy The Ride" slogan back into your car again.

4) Just do it!

On the rear struts you have to grip the shaft in order to be able to unscrew the top of the strut and change the springs. And apparently he grabbed them in the wrong spot and it broke a seal and all the fluid leaked out leaving me bouncing around town for a while.
