In that pic they look just like the '97-'99 SE wheels.

They look similar so you have to look at it closer.

They look fine, but they're only going to be 17x7, right?

I really like those rims, whether on a max or otherwise. I did not realize that they would fit on a max. I suppose th efinal result will depentd on where the offset puts the rim in relation to the fenders. I like the look of my 98 SE rims on my 96, BUT, I wish they were bumped out a bit. Next summer, my project is some spacers...

Stock if you started with the steelies.

What size tires would you go with? And do you need to machine the centerbore out?

Oh no, these are direct bolt on.
The tires are basically stock Lexus IS300 tires. Bridgestone Potenza 225/45/17. My neighbor upgraded to 18's first and now 19's. He wants to get rid of his stock IS300 rims...

Sweet. Maybe you can replace the center cap with something else. I suppose I'll give you the standard "if you're going with 225/45-17 on our cars, make sure it has the right weight rating" disclaimer.

If you autocross then those would be good. With 225 you can manage to stay in the Street Touring class, anything bigger and you're not eligable anymore

i found some on a totalled IS300 the guy at the junk yard wanted $500 for rims/tires, all 4 perfect condition no scrapes (head-on collision). but they went quick, so i missed out.

the workers at tire changing store hate changing those tires, being that they're steal belted, and lo-pro tires, he said one tire could take 30-45 minutes to change.

People say 18" look better than 17" rims. I think it depends on the rim. I have friends with an IS300 and a SpecV, and the 17" rims on those two cars look huge. I think it's because the spokes go to the edge of the rim and there isn't a lip.

I've seen an Audi S4 with 18" SSR competitions and they did not look like 18's at all because of the lip. (They still looked great though)

So if you get a 17" with a nice design, it can actually look better then certain 18" rims. And I think the IS300 5spoke is a good choice.

Hmm... I might be getting ripped off here.
Do you happen to know how many miles were on those tires?

UPDATE
Nevermind the rims. They come 50mm offset from the factory. This means that us Maxima folks will require to buy the 15mm H&R Spacers to reduce the offset to 35mm.
