Best Brand of bulbs...

With my car in the shop. i am back on the hunt for new bulbs and lenses. what is the best brand of bulbs? should i put ambers or super/hyperwhites in my bumpers? What is the best brand of headlight besides Piaa, which i am going to purchase their plasma white bulbs for my fogs-i love the purple color. I found a brand called MTECH and a few more diff brands. I had the eurolite fusions in there but i want a change, would also like a brighter burning bulb as well. Any thoughts?

Polarg are good and they're offered at custommaxima.com They look pretty good, I don't know about their life span. I would go hyperwhites on your bumper. But PIAA makes a good *** bulb.

Re: Best Brand of bulbs...

For the fogs, I am _not_ satisfied with the Phillips H3's I bought. They're not nearly as yellow as the Hella ones I used to have. The hella ones are garbage, and I am sick of having to replace them every 6 months, but the Phillips ones are no good IMHO. Maybe I'll give the Narvas a try

Stick with those which serve the OE market >>

Philips, Sylvania, Osram, Cibie and GE. Stay away from Hella bulbs made in Mexico and Korea. Piaa makes decent bulbs, but most of their sales is due to slick marketing, not a better bulb.

I use Naxos and they are okay... honestly if I had to recommend a bulb it would be either them or real HIDs.

for headlight bulbs, i've had good success with the sylvania cool blues. they are cheap, last longer than the PIAA's, and give a nice white light.

the silverstars are apparently even better, but pricier..

The Sylvania CoolBlues are pretty darn good bulbs for the price. They are much brighter and whiter than the stock bulbs and made a dramatic difference on every car I've put them on. They've lasted about a year and a half now with no problems.

Just for kicks, I shelled out the $$$ for the Sylvania Silverstars and was rather disappointed. The light is whiter than the CoolBlues, but nowhere near as bright. I took them back out and put in the CBs again.

Hope this helps,

MTECH sucks!!!

I just bought some MTECHs and they are not nearly as bright as advertised. I've been using the NOKYA artic purples which run on your current draw and put out about 80/100W. When I replaced one of the bulbs with the MTEC, there was no comparison. The NOKYA was still so much brighter with that cool purple tint. The MTECH, on the other hand, looked like brighter stocks, so there's no way it can be using 45/60W to put out 100/130W. If you've ever seen those cheap APC superwhites that turn into a dingy white color, that's how I would describe these MTECHs. When I shared my complaints with the seller and wanted a refund, he just told me that there'd be a 20% restocking fee along with cost of shipping.

I hope this helps. And yeah...I think the NOKYAs look great and are well worth it.

i like my sylvania cool blues very much and i plan to get the phillips blue visions whenever they blow out. piaa and nokya and all of the other wannabe HID bulbs are a waste of money in my opinion -especially the ebay ones. they look really nice but the poor light output isnt worth the trade off.

I bought a pair of Sylvania Cool Blues about a month ago and they weren't as white or even "cool blue" compared to my stock. They still look yellow but they were brighter no doubt...I've seen pictures of the CBs on the web and they look white, must be something wrong with my headlights and they are clean too. So I returned them, hmm...but I'm looking into Philips BVs now, maybe I'll have better luck.

Wheres the best place online to buy the Philips BlueVision bulbs? Should they be better than the Cool Blues?

I guess what I'm wondering is if you don't want to spend the money on the PIAA's what is the next best thing...

Do a search on "headlights" and you'll find plenty of posts in regards to PIAAs, Philips BVs, etc. That's what I did
