Well the VI definately works, took it to 6500rpm in 5th last night

Of course I was on a closed racecourse AND it was late on a sunday night. So there was no traffic danger. Decided to do a little high speed test of the VI, and it definately helps on top end.

Prior to VI, I could get to exactly 6000RPM (indicated, not actual) in 5th, this is with smaller diameter 235-40-17 tires, these tires are 6% shorter than stock and severely hamper top speed. GPS verified top speed was 135mph.

Last night 5th gear pulled darn near to redline, dead on at 6500rpm (indicated, not actual). A little math will tell you this works out to 145mph. Keep in mind my 6% shorter than stock tires. With stock size tires 150-155 wouldn't be a problem.

So, I know the VI's working now, now I just have to figure out how to make it work on the drag strip :/

Nice. Good luck on the strip. Hopefully you hit that 13 second mark your going for.

I think it's great that more people are testing the VI. It seems to be producing solid results so far.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Neal-

That's good to hear, especially since I'll never know what 120mph feels like I'd say the biggest difference I feel with the VI is went I redline 2nd and hit 3rd. Man, I tell ya 3rd hits hard and just feels so heathly. I'll be going to the track this Wednesday night. Unfortunately it's gonna be deep into the 90s, but I'm really itching to see what this thing does.

Re: Well the VI definately works, took it to 6500rpm in 5th last night

If its any consolation cartest shows 150mph @ 6400rpm topspeed with 235/45-17s or simular tire size . Also a tire size close to a 245/45-17 would have you hitting 100mph @ 6500rpm in 3rd gear. So that means a 225/55-16 or a 225/60-15 would do the trick. Both tires fit on 15x7 or 16x7 wheels, so consider them your drag strip tires . Or just borrow the wheels off a fox body Mustang GT and call it a day.
