300ZX Injectors

okay, before i get flamed immediatly, i did search. there's not any good answer to my question on a 4th gen!!

i'm wanting to find out if using 300zx injectors are possible. this is for my 98 gxe, not my 3rd gen. i have heard of it being possible, but i want proof. i don't want/need the turbo injectors either. i was just wanting the non-turbo injectors. i'm working my car up to be able to handle nitrous. my 98 already has 125,000 miles and counting. given my bad past habits of running my car on empty 24/7 and just sheer mileage on injectors, not to mention the bad things that can happen when an older/bad injector sticks when running in nitrous (fyi, i'm sure everyone on here has their own theory on whether i need some replacements. i'm not made of money. i can afford to buy some new injectors a lot more than i could afford to replace my whole engine after blowing a hole in a piston... so, in a nutshell, i want them out of personal preference )

i know the stock 300zx non-turbo injector flows 370cc, i'm not sure on our injector offhand, and what the difference is. nonetheless, i figure of course the ecu should have to be tinkered with as well. anyways, anyone know about injector compatibility on the 4th gen?? thanks...

thanks mardigras, lol. i DID search, but i never got saw the thread you posted. you installed them with s/c right? without ecu and boost, won't it probably just hurt all performance but with the nitrous? or will it stabilize out and i can just turn up the fuel pressure or use an afc to make it run differently while using spray?

Yes, I have boost. Not a good idea for NA IMHO. If you want to run over a 100hp shot of nitrous go pro fogger.

well, it wasn't necessarily for a huge shot of nitrous, but to ensure my 125k miles 98 could easily handle the dry shot i give it. that was the only thing i was worried about with bigger injectors, driveability under normal conditions. in any case, i figured if i was to either replace injectors, or balance and blueprint the stock ones, i might as well go with the best option i could performance-wise. someone also offered me venom injectors that flow "15% better" then stockers, so yeah. considering you've actually done the change and felt the results, would you consider them hard to change? did you have to do much, if any modifying for those injectors? also, now that you've had them a bit, how's performance now that the ecu's probably adjusted a lot more?

If your NA and using using under 100hp of a dry shot you would be wasting you money to use any aftermarket injectors.

In order to run the 370cc injectors I had to use an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and lower the fuel pressure (~$175 for all parts needed to install). The ECU has learned them ok, the car does idle a bit rough, but I have allot of stuff done that could cause that also. Change was easy for me, they fit right in no mods necessary. You should get new uper and lower O rings.

If you were to use something like a S-AFC to control the bigger injectors or you could try using a bigger MAF. In theory a properly bigger MAF would have the same signal as the stock maf with stock injectors. For this application, you'd need either a fuel controller or ecu reprogram.
