Flywheel or MEVI: which would you do?

For roughly the same price, I could get either a lightened flywheel or a MEVI. Which would you do and why? The labor involved with replacing the flywheel is not an issue, as I'm doing a tranny swap.

Thanks!

Without a doubt. Anyone that says otherwise has not experienced a MEVI.

I guess I should add the reason I'm considering the lightened flywheel is that it (theoretically) improves power across the speed range, whereas the MEVI's gains are limited to above ~4500 rpm. Improving low end power definitely has its attractions to me, but if they are minimal, then I can be persuaded to go MEVI.

Not really. As you get into the higher gears, your lightened flywheel benefits diminish also. But do what you think best.

Steve,

You're welcome to take a ride in my MEVI'd car once I get my replacement Harlan rpm switch installed (probably next week). You can judge for yourself. In my opinion, I think it's one of the best if not the best engine mods I've done to the car. Really changes the character.

I also have your KS replacement tool I need to return to you.

I'll let you know when the Harlan is in.

Keven

Powertrain upgrades are important, but not as important as the MEVI. Go for the MEVI.

You should definitely get a VI...I purchased a Lightened flywheel as my last mod for NA...until I found out about the VI. And the Lightened flywheel didn't seem to make a noticably big difference. But the VI is incredible. Seriously the two mods I would probably start off with if I had to do it over would be a VI and Y-pipe =).

Just my 2 cent,
John
