New question re: Painting Altezzas and 95-96 V. 97-99 differences...Please Help!

Well, I found a better place to get paint (tower paint) and now I have a new question.

I HAVE PMed some of these guys, but to no avail.

I have a 1996, which has a small circle to the lower-outside of the large red circle on the OUTER portoin of the housing. When I look at the taillights on FJC and Sexima's maximas (both 97+), I notice that they either DO NOT HAVE this circle, or that they have painted over it. When I looked at the taillights on Gary95's (95, duh), I noticed that he had left this portion unpainted. I am about to paint my lights.

Do I need to leave that small outer circle exposed, or can I paint over it? Another way of asking this is, will there be any blinker if I paint over the small circle.

Please help me out here. I have PMmed and looked all over, but I do not know if the 95-96 version works differently than the 97+ version (thus necessitating leaving it exposed), or whether I can paint over the small circle.

Thanks in advance, guys...

Update:

I THINK that further searching (1.5 hours) has revealed that the circle CAN be painted over on 95-96 maximas as well as the 97+. Am I correct?

The small outer circle is a side marker, not a blinker. The only problem painting over it is legality issues.

If it's the sidemarker, just paint over it.
I had no problems with my lights. ^^

What about legality issues with side reflectors or side illumination? Has anyone had difficluty getting an inspection done with painted altezzas?

some states require it for visibility purposes. i know for one that it would be illegal in IL, but whos really going to say something if you have it painted over, how would they even know that it "belinged" there, right?
