Resistance?

Im getting ready to order my warp speed y pipe ,and i have a question. I was talking to my friend about getting a y pipe and he stated that i really shouldnt get it unless im running some sort of boost. He stated that the reason for this is that are cars(maxima) need a little resistance and that too much freeflow might not give me the horspower gains im wanting. Any body have any suggestions on this matter? Im also planning on installing the test pipe in place of the cat, any one who has this setup id like to hear your opinions and experiences.

I just ordered my Y pipe Thursday. There is absolutely no negative side to this mod. It's a 10 - 15 HP gain once it's bolted on.

No losses anywhere, just gains. For 225 bucks, you can't go wrong.

BTW - The "resistance" you speak of isn't really resistance, it's more complicated then that.

Re: Resistance?

look at the dyno chart such as this one:
http://www.motorvate.ca/auto/maxima/...-pipe_dyno.htm

no hp nor torque loss.

But the test pipe is a different story.

Resistance (back-pressure is BAD), check the FAQ's, there's an article in there that talks about this subject....
