Maxima Vs Prelude

Ok, I haven't done my reasearh, but figure you guys/gals would know best anyway. I just bought my '98 5Speed Max and have only done suspension work so far: springs, struts, sway...ect. Anyway, my new college neighboor has been talkin trash about his '99 auto prelude that only has a catback and the alteza's that add ohh so much hp

So what's the probability in a race...should I yes/no and if no what small mod's should ensure victory? I don't want to go the turbo/charger route since I have a gsxr for that.

haha. before this thread gets locked I'll tell you the outcome, the auto prelude doesn't have a chance in hel. Automatic preludes are good for mid 16s stock, maybe a low 16 if he's really lucky. Your 5spd and a 5spd lude is a good race, you've still got the edge until you reach about 120mph.

Well, truthfully I just want to shut the kid up. Plus I just bought the car and want to make the first tally mark on the dash for puttin down the 'lude

In the long run it really dosn't matter though

Will this get locked?

I guess I didn't read through the rules... does the thread get locked if your just asking the facts/numbers behind the race, I figured they just didn't want everyone posting there stories.

Thanks for the responses...I'll sleep better tonight

I just resently raced a SH lude with Intake header and exhaust from 65-120 and I beat him by 6 lengths. By the way I have the normal bolt ons.

was it automatic? if it was 5spd then im gonna have to say BS. i recently raced one that had i/h/e and a VAFC we were pretty close (i won by maybe 1/2 car by 90mph.)

I wouldn't, hes one of the fastest N/A max's in colorado, and has beat some quick cars so i doubt he's BS'n, he has said he gteched around 14.1-14.2 (sea level) which may be off by a couple tenths but look at your times high 14's, so i wouldn't go out and call BS when you don't know the facts man. thats one thing about this board everyone calls bs when out comes are not the same as every one else. There are alot of factors when racing and driver has alot to do with it.
