How much money for Supercharger installation. Can Nissan do it? Who else does it?

Okay I'm tired of searching. Perhaps there are specific words I should have used in my search but I haven't been able to find the information I want. BTW I have not searched the web. Typically, if I have not been able to find what I want at the Maxima.org website I have not been able to find it anywhere. That said, this is my question:

I want to know how much it costs to have a supercharger installed. Specifically, the stillen. I'm not sure what the different types are if there are different types. If it's based on what kind of specific junk you want with it, then what is the average cost. I just want some sort of idea. Also, who can you get to install it if you don't want to or can't do it yourself? Does Nissan do stuff like that?

anywhere from $500-$1,000... I think most Nissan dealerships would decline this kind of work.

do it yourself. The thing about getting it done at a shop is that, paying them 400,500, or 600 or whatever is all fine with me, but you never know if the job is done right. Not all speed shops or dealers know what they're doing. If you want it done right, gotta do it yourself.

If I ever get a SC, i'm gonna do it myself too.

When i get my S/C i will be going to Jeff Renaldo(sp) owner of Maximum Tuning in LI, his flat rate for installing the S/C is $500 and he knows what he is doing considering he has one.

$500 and knowing its gonna be done right. Thats a good price.
Get yours installed from him too, if you can drive to NY.

I just checked your profile and you're in Bama. I think Jay25 will be a better choice then.

I spent countless hours writing a SuperCharger Install for Dummies and people still say they can't do it themselves.

You can!! Trust me. And then you know it's done right And you're your own best mechanic later.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

ptatohed, if you're the guy I think you are, I spent a couple of hours just reading over your instructions yesterday. At one point you list the Stillen instructions and then explain them in more detail, that is, if you put together the instructions that I read. Your instructions were great, like some scientific papers I have read, but they really only made the job seem more intimidating to me. There are just too many times where you say "you can do it this way if you want" or "you might want to do that differently" and I don't want any guess-work in an install I do. I gotta have explicit steps. I know too little to have to make decisions like that and I can't afford to experiment on my car. If I could save up 3542 to get this stillen sc that I see on their site then I could for sure get 500 more to get someone experienced to put it on.

So Jay25, do you have a shop or something or what?

No way man, you're all washed up. I spell EVERYTHING out, word for word. To the point where it might insult the average weekend mechanic's intelligence. lol. But I wanted ANYONE to be able to do it themselves. People just like yourself. That was my goal.

If you don't want to, I can't make you but I'd strongly recommend doing it yourself.

Do you have to have a garage space or a lift to this install?
How about access to power tools? Can this be done on curb side?

I would recommend a garage, yes. No power tools nor lift needed though. You will need two jacks or jack stands or ramps. I guess you could do it on the side of the road but your car will be up on jacks for about 30 hours of working time. Which could be about a week, or more, depending how much free time you have. Read my list of needed equipment.

I definantly recommend ptatohed's writeup. I looked it over and everything is spelled out to a tee. Anyone could follow it.

There's better prices out there - for example Avalon Racing has it for $3400.

I have printed out Josh's (Ptatohed's) instructions and they gave me confidence that when the time comes I can do it myself - as an indicator of how mechanically inclined I am, the only things I've ever done myself are spark plugs and oil changes with filters.

I think the more people who use his instructions, the more fine tuned they will become.

I did my SC install myself. It took me a whole week, but I did took my time. I got a spare car, so there was no need to rush for me. Plus, the spare car was go to go to and from the auto part store for last minute parts. I'm sure you will probably run into that if you decide to install it on your own. I'm not the most mechanically incline, but even I could do it. Having watched Mardigrasmax and JAY25 in the past really helped. It was either install by myself or have a shop install it for me, which they quoted me around $800! And who know if they know want they are doing or not. The shops around me hardly work on Nissan's, nevermind Maxima's. They are mostly into Honda's. I'm going to do everything on my car myself from now on. I just don't trust anyone else now with the exception of the previous mentioned two person.

Took me a day and half to install my own!!!!thats because I ran into a couple of little headaches!!but your welcome to sleep over one night to rest until I am done. I will work all day and should be almost about done the next. It is a 12 hour job should take me that long or less!!!so the choice is up to you. If you doubt me you can contact shadow I worked on his SC and another little issue that he had!what part of AL do you reside in?

Hey ptatohed, just wanted to say thank you for the SC writeup. I dont have a SC yet, but I really really really appreicate your writeup. Now I need to do my NOS writeup, as promised, so that anybody can install the nos. When I get around to doing the write up, it will be done "ptatohed style", aka moneky's directions.

Everything is good. I think my starter is going but that's unrelated to the SC (I think). Kill stories? You have not seen one kill story for a good reason - I have not posted one kill story. Not my style. But let's just say, I've been having fun.

I think it was unhappy. It never died on me but I could tell it didn't like the SC. I did a whole tranny upgrade just in case after two months. I can't tell you what would have been if I didn't. It might have been fine, it might have not. It seems o.k. now but it's slow to down shift sometimes when I mash it.

I just meant what happened? are you enjoying the extra ponies?, I never saw I smoked or a nice little incident post that you ran into. I like reading them and pic them in my head, they are fun to read. As long as you are happy then have nothing to worry about. Happy to see that everything is just fine.
