95 modded 5 speed max vs 91 modded 2 door legend coupe auto vs 95 m3 5 speed modded..

on my way home from skeelo's spot, i am on rt 22 and a blue m3 passes me quick as hell, so i put my newly converted 5 speed to the test. I chase him down and behind me i see a white 91 legend coupe with kit, exhaust and intake. The m3 had a good start on us and i was struggling to catch up but the legend was right behind me and either i was too fast or was taking up too much room but he never passed me, just stood close behind. the m3 bounced on us due to traffic but it became more of a fight between me and legend...the roads had curves and i was extending the speed needed to travel on those roads...maybe that's why he couldn't pass me. Any faster and he neeeded to crash. But we stop at a corner and talk and he tells me he has a 91 coupe with engine straight from japan pumping like 260 hp vs 205 american stock. Plus he tells me i should have eaten that M3 alive but i didn't get the chance since he started way too eawrly.

as far as this legend is concerned, what are our chances against him? he says he MIGHT run mid 14's with just his intake and exhaust....and he's auto....he never ran though

Racing is bad. Don't do it. Especially against me, you know I'll smoke you even with you and your ypipe.

OHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! wait till i get a tune up....!!!!!

dam, skeelo is still faster than me and i'm 5 speed...i'm thinking...since i do have a y-pipe, it does slow down my low end a little so maybe that's why he has such a stronger beginning than me. Plus at higher ends, i didn't see u killing me that badly (60 and up)....

but its not even questionable that his stock a$$ looking max is faster than mine....

He is 5spd too right?

Your Y-pipe won't slow you down at all off the line, especially if you launch. Actually, it will BENIFIT you off the line if you launch, becuase you are dropping the clutch at the RPM's where the pipe starts to become alive. 5spds seem to be different then auto's...when I was auto with a popcharger, I felt a BIG lag. But I just recently converted from my cai back to a hybrid, and i feel NO lag whatsoever. And hybrids don't "take away the lag" becuase the filter still sits inside the engine bay. I am convinced the 5spd's gearing erases any lag felt.

And as far as skeelo being able to beat you, your car needs a major tune-up, or the downpipe has a leak/wasn't properly installed. It should shave .3-.4 off your 1/4th time by itself. Up to 60 it probubly only shaves a tenth or 2 off so if that's when you raced skeelo it wouldn't matter. He can probubly drive alot better then you too which makes the biggest difference.

he CAN drive a lot better than me. I just realized also that in first gear (the gear he obliterates me), i start my launch between 1.5 and 2k, and i feel y-pipe kicking in at like 3k+ but wouldn't it hurt my clutch starting off so high? I'm really thinking the tune up is my main problem, i posted like 4 codes i received and before i actually blame them all on a tune up, if one of u with converted max can pull codes (if u still have ECU light on), let me know what u get so i know what to eliminate.

must be pretty annoying to get codes all the time, huh?

Have you taken your car to the track yet? If skeelo can beat you stock, you might be surprised as to what your E.T. might be...

There is something wrong with meccas car. Even with his cai and ypipe his doesn't pull as hard as mine. It feels "sluggish." When I drove his car in second gear and floored it, the car wouldnt smoothly accelerate, it had these occasional tiny jerks - sort of like that you get in 1st gear if you just tap the gas lighlty, except the car didnt jerk, but you could feel that it wasnt just a smooth acceleration. I don't know what to suspect as to his problem being, but I suggest that spark plugs and fuel filter be changed.

The only time I drop my clutch at 3k RPM's is when I want to roast my tires for my friends. Everytime I drop it at 3, my tires light up all the way through first gear. Whenever I want to actually go somewhere, I drop it no higher then 2k. I dropped at 2k a little while ago and got some tire squeelage but took off. You have to moderate the gas too, if you drop at 2k AND floor the gas, it will spin alot. You have to gradually push in the gas and "feel" the tire traction.

Dropping at 3k won't harm you as long as it's only once in a while. Now doing it everyday is gonna where your clutch a little faster. The only time you should be worried is if your doing it consistently and on a day to day basic. And don't ever revv and drop past 3k, except for rare occasions. I never have. I can only imagine how much i'd spin if I dropped at like 4k My poor clutch would die!

Yo Mecca,

take a look at your rims. Chromed 2K1 17" rims must weigh a ton. That's may be what's killing your speed.

Also, feul filter change won't hurt. Alot of people ignore that one.

Highly unlikely. Even if it does hurt his speed, his Y-pipe and CAI would still be giving him more power over stock, there's definatally something wrong internally.

skeelo has a intake, he's not stock

and i don't have chrome rims, just the alloy 2k1 6 spoke.

my tires are almost bald so i know i could easily spin out at like 2k rpm but never started with 3k, just scared of results...but i'm gonna hope tune up is gonna fix everything
