And how can I find out if I have a 99.5? I'm beginning to think I have one because my WS Y-pipe had some fitment issues, and the shop had to get creative to make it fit.

There is no such thing as a 99.5 model. In 1999 Nissan made changes to the Y pipe and the ECU for California Emissions equipped cars. Warpspeed calls them the 99.5 for some strange reason.
The 1999 California Spec cars share the same Y pipe as the 2K and the 2K1 Maxima.
The 1999 Federal Spec cars share the same Y pipe as all the other years. (95 - 98)
well my car is fed spec not cali emissions. so the pipe that i have may fit. does anyone have pics of the y for a 99 i remember seeing a post a while back with pics but when i do a search, i cant find the thread.
