HELP! - Diagnostic Link Connector damaged

Faulty Diagnostic Link Connector?
Went to take my 97 GLE Max for its annual emissions test, but the tech said that the Diagnostic Link Connector was damaged or the On Board Diagnostic computer was not responding.
Has anyone had this problem? If so, what can be done to fix this?

You might want to take the car to another emission test facility or try and find another technician.
The OBD type of test is very new to most parts of the country. I have strong suspicions that the equipment may be buggy, or the technicians that perform the test may be not be very familiar with it yet.
