Just be sure to drive the car for about 25 minutes before you take it in. If all you have is the Y-Pipe, warm up the car, then bring it in. You'll be fine.

Yep... that is true. A trusted mechanic once told me that never change your oil prior to emission testing and one of the reasons why you need to drive around for 25 minutes prior to test is that the car must burn excess oil from God-knows-where. Didn't asked for specifics and non were offered. I'm sure a lot of guys knew about this. You should be fine.

Yep, drive around for a bit to warm up the Cat and then take it to some local station that will do it right away and not let it sit for hours.

The catalytic converter works best when it's nice and hot.

Or so I hear..

Don't worry as long as the CEL isn't on or flashes an error code you will pass. All they do is the standard lighting, brake tests and plug the computer into the ECU to check the OBD-II for error codes. If you had an o2 simulator you could run a testpipe and still pass.
