Feul filter change

You'll really notice it up top, especially winding out in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. The car will be zingier up there.

Sorry, but a clean fuel filter will not improve fuel economy.

I don't see how changing the fuel filter will make a difference, unless if it has never been changed. I changed mine every 15k, the last time I looked, there was barely any dirt, or sediment, or whatever you wanna call it in the filter.

- Hey, nice word use there ("zingier"). How do you install the new filter and how many miles in between changes?
- Also, for a fuel injector cleaner, what brand would you recommend and what do you do with it? Do you pour in a whole bottle, how much fuel should be in the tank, etc.?
- Thanks guys! ;-)

sleeperSe, its a pain, but its not hard. The filter is located on the fire wall behind the intake (sorta). Before you remove it you have to take out the fuel pump fuse out , and start the engine. After the engine stalls, try to start it. If it dosenty start, the fuel is cut off. ( I started the car about 5 times and it still has gas in the line) NOw for removing the filter, well just "simply" take of the hose clamps on the top and bottom of the filter and remove filter. And yes there will be some gas leaking. Now just install the filter, the hose with the clamps, and the fuel pump fuse. Now start your car, may want to pump the gas too. As for what brand filter? I got the only one they had at pepboys.

A man who rejoices in a performance improvement after he changes his fuel filter is a man who had a clogged fuel filter.

Re: Re: Re: Feul filter change

Exactly. The difference depends on how long your feul filter was in there before the change, and what type of gas you were using, whether its really clean or not. I changed mine for the 1st time at 33k miles. From the dramamtic change up top, I assume my filter was in there from the factory, hence, big improvement. Before the filter change that first time, my car couldn't get past 125 MPH. After, BINGO!

If you change the feul filter every 15K miles, you'll probably not notice as mmuch a change in performance, if at all.

Hmm maybe after 100K miles I should change mine? I thought I felt a slight hesitation aroun 1800-2500 rpm maybe that's it?

fuel filter change

After 100 K Miles?? DEFINITELY change it.

But, before you do, take it for a top speed run and see how it does. Then, after you change the filter, do it again. It'll be like something woke up inside your engine. It'll probably fix that hesitation you mentioned as well.

Here's a testament from Steve Cutchen, he runs MaxFAQs. He changed his after 60K miles.

http://web2.airmail.net/scutchen/max_faq/

in the left pane, goto the maintenance section and choose CHANGING THE FEUL FILTER menu selection at the very bottom of the pop up menu.
