Who has had a problem with Tokico struts and why do people dislike them?

I've had mine for almost 50000 miles. First, I had Sprint springs, now I have Eibachs.
So far, my Toks aren't leaking or blown. But, they still suck.
Why? Good question.
They dont have nearly enough rebound damping for performance springs. When you hit a bump, the spring and damper compress and then BOING the car bounces up off the compressed spring. This makes the ride feel very bouncy and uncontrolled, ie. bad. This is also a very dangerous train of events if it happens mid-corner.
This is why Tooks suck.

i figured (well, it's quite obvious) they couldn't support aftermarket springs.. they basically aren't that big of a difference from stock then.

wtf were they thinking when designing them.. I thought Tokico is a very good brand name as far as performance suspension products go...

Plus with AGXs only $350 shipped these days, it's a hard deal to beat.

They are a good brand, and the Tokico HP struts (the blue ones) are good struts. They are just totally inadequate for use with lowering springs. With sotck I'm sure they'd be great.

The Tokico Blues ride really nice on stock springs. I put them in an I30 a few months back and that car rode great. It tightened it up a bit but maintained a very smooth ride. Still not even close to the AGX/OEM setup I ran for a year. The difference in the two struts are night and day.
If your looking for performance, hands down it's the AGX's you want. If your keeping the stock setup and want a really smooth ride, get the Tok's and save your $$ for other mods.
Don't couple Tok's with a drop.

I had tokico blue on my stock GLE springs. At first the ride was improved (had 60k on orig struts). 40K later what a crapy uncontroled ride. I experienced what was stated by mzmtg. They suck on the re-bound. For the price they should be alot better. KYB AGX or GR-2 is the way to go.

even if i didn't care about the process of assembling and installing Konis, i still wouldn't do it because of their price
