hi...my brakes are almost dead and i need to change them asap just wanted to know what tools i will be needing and the process of changing out the front pads. i know this sounds like something that i will be getting flamed for but i searched and couldnt find any procedures...thanks in advance guys

Hey, cool, OC. Go to Kragen and get the disc brake tool loaner kit. Get a Chilton's manual while you're there for reference, too. Essentially, you're just removing a few bolts, swinging the caliper assembly up, replacing pads, and recompressing the pistons. It literally is that simple. Torque bolts when you're done.

This is for porterfields so if you aren't installing them disregard the break in proceedure at the bottom.

thanks for the info guys...too bad i just broke my 3/4 socket so i guess my wheel isnt comming off any time soon damn my friends power tools...if i had'nt tightened them so hard this woulda never happened...

I know you were joking, but don't use a torqure wrench to take off your wheels. Use the stock tire wrench that came with the car. I personally find it's easiest to start with the bar horizontal and then pull up. That way you exert force with your legs, back, and arms at the same time. If you cannot take the wheel off either use a pipe over the wrench to give you more leverage, or get your local meathead to take it off.

i have 18's and the sock wrench doenst fit inside the hole...and the jerk at the shop that i went to tightened it so hard that a craftsman deep socket broke in there...i thought that craftsman tools werent meant to snap like that...
