this car is so beautiful. Has everything i wanted, sunroof, leather, 5 SPEED!!! and mileage is less than i had on my max when i first bought it. Only two things stopping me. First off, insurance company hasn't looked at my car yet (got in major accident and might be totalled) so i don't know when they gonna pay me.

Second, if u look at past bids, some crazy guy by the name of samerik bid like 6 times in a row and kept outbidding himself. I think he and the seller are in cahoots (sp?) and are trying to make more dough out of this car than they should....well its gonna be over october 1. If it stays within 5500 area or 6,000, i'll try my best to get this. its 2.5 hours away from me.

P.S., i say this politely, NOBODY EVEN TRY AND OUT BID ME! i found this fair and square and i don't want any of u taking my dream away or i'm slashing every tire from here to Cucamango!

:D

If you want to the win auction, then you shouldn't tell people about it.

the only thing that happened so far is that we sent report to our insurance. They supposed to contact us on outcome of their talk with her insurance but i have received nothing. I desperately try to rush my father on this situation but he's not that smart or something. He keeps saying "insurance blah blah blah takes time, its gonna take months before you see the money, no need rush". I'm like WTF, it takes month because of lazy stupid people like yourself that dont' rush things. I didnt' say that but that's how i felt inside. Everyone here is asking all these questions as if i'm supposed to already have the money by now. I don't know why these guys are so slow to do this transaction...makes me mad man...but what can i do....tomorrow i'm going to contact my insurance ocmpany one way or the other and see what he says...hopefully he has some info for me.

The guy who was outbidding himself is actually using PROXY bidding. Basically you set a fixed MAXIMUM amount that you will spend on the car, and they will bid on it for you until your set amount is reached.

great find...the guy could have bid like $8k, but it will only show the next highest bid increment, which is $100 more than the last highest bid...so if the highest bid u see is $6,100, but the guy bid $8k (for example), it will show $6,100 (because that's wat is needed for highest bid) but u would have to go $8,100 to beat his bid.
Man it's so hard to explain in writing...they do proxy biding so that u dont have to sit at the comp and keep bidding each time the price goes up...u jus put down the highest amount u would bid

if that's the case, then why did he bid like 5 times in a row? he already had high bid. Why would he bid over his higher one? i think there is a scam involved just so he gets more for the car than they initially would get but i still want it and will still watch and hope

ACHmaxima Sep 26, 2002 12:16 AM

Good luck I hope you win the bid.

By the way, if you do win the bid what are you gonna do with your current Max?

my CURRENT max was in a bad accident. It is more than likely gonna be totaled and the woman that hit me will pay for my new car. The only problem is i have no extra dough and i really can't spend more than 6500 or 7,000 max on a car (how much i might get)....

if they let me keep car i'll sell parts definitely

pretend like I bid on the car (and I DID NOT so calm down!!)

his proxy bid went up in increments everytime SOMEONE else bid on the auction...his max may have been 5000 but if it started off at 3000 and I bid 3100 his bid was then 3200

then i bid 4000 and his bid showed as 4100 and so on and so forth until his maximum bid of 5000 was overbid by my maximum bid of 6000 and that would make me the high bidder

so the next person that tries to bid will have to overbid my 6000

and ebay will show it as me bidding 3 or 4 times as someone else tries to overbid me
once i am overbid the highest bidder's name will be above mine and my name will be listed 4 or 5 times in the bidder list

once the auction is over you will be able to see the amounts that each person bid for the car

hope that all makes sense!!

The reason he kept bidding is because the reserve price is not met yet. You haven't won the auction until you exceed the reserve (as well as being high bidder). I don't think a scam is involved here.

well why not wait till last minute to get reserve price? its not like he gets reserve and its his, someoen can still bid higher than him so wait till last minute for the big fight...IMO that makes sense.....

Because no one aside from the seller knows the reserve, so the bidder has to keep raising his bid until he either hits the reserve or decides he doesn't want to go any higher.

WOW WHAT A FIND!!!

Damn mecca, I've been looking for a nice new max since mine apparently is never coming out of the body shop... this one is just what I've been looking for. Also, considering I just got a $10k bonus from work I'm sure that I'll hit the bid.

Awesome work man... I owe ya one.
