Auto lock/alarm

I bought a used 97 gxe and I notice that when I lock the car there is no "honk of the horn" to advise that the doors have locked, I do have the tail lights flash. Is this standard for the system or should it "honk" once locked? If so, what can I do to repair? Thanks.

Nope, the horn doesn't honk when you lock the door.

I like it like that though personally. I would rather just see my lights flash rather than announce to everyone that I AM NOW LEAVING MY CAR with a car honk.
