manual climate not working.

manual climate not working.
Ok i have a 97 se and i have manual climate control and when its on the blue section it blows cold like its supposed to but if i barely move it to the right it immediatle starts blowing hot air like the heater. Instead of just a cooler air. Its really aggravating and i'm constantly turning my air on and off which probably isnt good for it.
Has anyone had this problem?

Heater Control
I have 1999 GXE. We live in Cleveland (Home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) so we have to run the heater 300 days a year and it is the same problem. When you move the tempurature adjustment it is either hot or cold. Using the recirculate moderates the problem, but if it is cool and damp the windows will fog up. Yes you can turn on the A/C as that dehumidifies the air. This is not a new problem. I noticed it the first week I got the car. I just didn't realize how bad it was until I bought a 1998 A6 two months ago. It has an automatic climate control and is great.

I know what you guys are talking about. I have Auto Climate control in my 99 and it works awsome. Thank you Nissan for that one.
You guys should try moving the lever in very small increments. Remember the temp change in the car should be slowly. Move it a 1/8 inch and wait 5 min. Move another 1/8, wait and so on until you find that sweet spot. All my past cars were manual but I always managed to find the sweet spot, just go slow and be patient. I've even challanged my friend in his Hyundia on a ride home from VT. We were in his car and it was hot, then cold, then hot. Drove me nuts so I told him I'd set it. He bet me that his car was either hot or cold and bla bla bla.. Anyhow, took about 10-15 min and we never touched that **** again all the way back to NJ.
