What is the rule of thumb for how often you clean a CAI?

 

hmm not sure I think they said it would be wise to check it out ever 6 thousand miles or so, or atleast the filter. But I think most people on here have had there on for more than a year an have never looked so I don't know. I have only had mine on for like 2 months

 

i havent touched mine on over 2yrs, thats over 50k

 

Don't wait a year. Water, mud, slush, etc. can get sucked up onto the filter. I waited just over a year to clean mine and the K&N cotton element was 20% destroyed.

i usually clean it when i start to notice the car gets a big sluggish.. generally its suppose to be 15k

 

I just cleaned my CAI filter in May. Here it is Sept I removed everything this past Sat, it was nasty. I would advise cleaning it every 4-5months, or depends how many miles you drove. Like sprint posted every 15K would be a good idea.
