dont know what to name this

anyone ever take out the noise reduction pad thing on the inside of the hood? would it harm anything? sound better worse?

The black thing on the bottom of your hood is a flame retardant. Its purpose isn't to block out noise. Help keep flames down so you can get free from the car.
