front seat problems

Hi,

I have a 96 Maxima GXE. Ever since I got this car a couple years back, the front passenger seat only moves a little bit but never moves far enought to the front to leave good legroom in the back. I took off the front two bolts and was trying to see what was getting in the way. It sounds like the railing hits something hard on its path and is unable to move beyond that point. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

I had the same problem but I got it to move back up but it will still jam if I go all the way back. What I did was sat in the seat while racking yourself forward while pulling up on the lever until it finally gets unstuck. I cant really tell what is causing it but it seem that the rails are out of allignment and the seat gets stuck somewhere it shouldnt be.

I had this problem on another vehicle of mine. It turned out to be a coin stuck in the rail. After a few times of hitting it really hard, it was really stuck in there. It took me an hour to get it out.

You might have similar, perhaps right under the seat where you can't see it. Try a flashlight and some contortionist tricks, or failing that, remove the whole seat so you can get a good look at it.

Wow another copper catcher!

I had this same problem with my passenger seat, damn loose change. Removing the seat after sliding hard back and forth to find a half cut penny wedged into track. Took me 45 mins to pry out with needlenose pliers!
