Help! Spark plug boot stuck!
Help! Spark plug boot stuck!
Ok, I was able to change 5 of the 6 spark plugs with no problems. But on the 6th one (which happens to be the rear middle), the rubber boot got stuck down there and I can't get it off.
I've tried thin needle nose pliers, but I can't seem to grab it coz it's so deep. I've tried a clawed pick up tool, but it doesn't seem to grab hold of the boot tightly enough. The boot seems REALLY stuck onto the spark plug.
I'm thinking of just cutting it up somehow and replacing the coil and boot altogether, but I don't know what I can use to cut the boot up. Anyone have any suggestions? I noticed on the other 5 coils that the boot is on the coil REALLY tight. But on this 6th one, I can stick the coil back into the hole, and feel that it's making contact with the spark plug, but when I pull it out, the boot stays down there.
Please help...

Spark Plug Boot Stuck? It's an easy fix actually, I posted a how to in the FAQ section.
Search is your friend!
(I can't believe I just said that)
Go get yourself some crazy glue, apply some to the end of the coil pack that came out. Insert back into the spark plug hole. Wait 5 minuts and pull it back out. The boot will be glued back to the end of the coil pack.
Works like a charm!!

Don't worry it works like a charm! I figured that out when my buddies I30 did the same thing.
Here's what I did:
I cut up a coat hanger and with a pair of pliers I made a little hoop at the end. The hoop is about the same diameter as the piece that supposed to go into the boot. Works great and you've made yourself a new tool for the next time it happens!
