I have searched but haven't found anything.
Does anyone know for sure if the y-pipe for a '99 is different than '95-'98? On Cattman's page, they show the YG4 for '95-'98 and YG5 for '99-'01.

 

since your car is a 99 se-l, your y-pipe is similar to the 5th gen y-pipe. do not get a 95-98 y-pipe. get the 99-01 pipe. you'll thank me later.

 

The Ypipe is the same for a cali spec and fed spec maxima for years 95 to 98. Only in 1999, the ypipe is different. The cali 99 has an extra bend in it, so you need to check if you have cali or fed since you have a 99.

I just crawled under my car and looked, and mine looks like the '95 -'98 models, bends in the same place! So it must be an SE-L fed spec, and some of the other guys must have cali spec, hence needing the 5th gen pipe on theirs. My front pipe (that connects to front manifold) bends up also like the 4th gen. Interesting.

 

That is very weird.... Mine is a 99 Fed spec... and when I ordered the Y-pipe, they said they'll send the 99+ Y-pipe. And honestly, I never looked at it, it came straight to the shop and straight onto my car so I never really took a good look.

 

95-98: Cali/Fed are the same exact thing (2 sensors in front of the engine)

99: If you have 2 sensors in front of the engine then you have Fed emissions; order a y-pipe designed for 95-98 Maximas.

If you have 4 sensors in front of the engine then your Max has Cali emissions. Cali spec Maximas have a large catalyic converter that is directly beneath the first bank's exhaust manifold. The aftermarket Y-pipe does not replace that large cat converter, hence a different Y-pipe design.
