wiper switch mod?

Something i've been thinking about ever since the heavy summer rains....now rehashed due to the soggy weather.

Appaerently, in japan, there is only three typres of rain: Somewhat misty and drisly; moderate; and heavy rain. Why else would we have this stupid chois of three settings on the wipers? there isn't even a "mist" setting, where you just tap the bar. So, i was thinking, what is i just replaced the stock, 3-setting switch to a different one, possibly even one made by GM, which offers twelve million different intermittent settings for their wipers. Granted, I doubt the american parts would get along with the japanese parts, but what if i lifted the switch from an infiniti? the two cars are close enough as it is. See, i think that if i used a GM, or maybe toyota or even mazda part, i'd have to replace the wiper switch, pump, motor, relays, and a whole bunch of wiring. But, an infiniti, or even another max switch, would be like a plug-and-play mod. I don't know what the wipers are like on other peoples' maximas. If there are different types of wiper switches on 4th gens, maybe that would work better. Any input is appreciated.

I dont feel like reading this post, but im guessing that you want to make ur stock wipers into variable setting wipers. Here is a write up
HERE

My mom's old altima had 3 settings too. I never expected it would make it's way onto the maxima's of the same period.

How much did they save by not using the intermittent stock?...
The 2k2's have intermittent wipers standard.

the only models that didnt have the intermittent where the GXE's without the C&C pkg, all others have the intermittent.

Yeah actually I think it's the GXEs and SEs without S&C. All GLEs have it, and most SEs, and some GXEs.

Although I find it odd that an SE with the leather option wouldn't also have the S&C package!

You can try Courtesy Nissan, or any of the dealers that give discounts to .org members, or a junkyard. If you can find someone parting out their wrecked car here then thats another option.

My 96 GXE has the variable.
But don't take not having it as a bad thing. Just like German supercars with no cup holders, your car is a true drivers car with the emphaisis placed on the driving exprience. Your car was not designed for soccer moms, just the real hard core driving enthusiast How that makes it better
