Replacing Shift Knob and Key?
Replacing Shift **** and Key?
OK, I have two questions:
1. How do you take off the stock 5-speed shift ****? I am going to be getting one shipped soon and I don't know how to take off the stock ****.
2. I have a '99 SE with the Nissan security alarm. Do I need a special key that has a chip in it? Where can I get one besides the dealer?
Thanks Fror Your Help

as for the key, i believe the 99's did come with a chip in them. can't say positively though. if it did, good luck getting one at a reasonable price.
For the ****, yeah, you want to put a towel over the **** and use a set of channel-lock plyers and twist like he||. It'll give a little *crack*, that's the glue breaking loose. After that you should be able to twist it off the rest of the way by hand.
For the key, you should have a little metal tag somewhere in your owner's manual booklet with a code on it. The dealer can program a new key using that code. Wal-mart don't do codes.
