On my 99 GXE (Cali model) w/ just a PR CAI and rolloing on 16" chrome rims i ran a 15.68@87.95mph for my first time draggin. I plan on hitting high 14's this upcoming season w/ additional mods and practice.
Ant has a 95SE on 15" factory alloys w/ a PR CAI adn ran a 15.6 as well.

I'll probably try it with my 15's on, all the way around. The only prob is making sure I get good traction in 1st with the stock tires. I think I've got a good handle on the technique though. I plan to shift manually from first to third with redline as shift points. I'll probably also try shifts at 6200 or so to see if there is a difference.
Thanks for the confidence...We'll see

If you ruin auto, run the CAI, Under Drive pulleys, Y-pipe, R/T Cat, B-Pipe, A/F management (like A'Pex or Fields), adn run the VB from Don and you will be more well into the 14s w/ no trouble.

he's GXE i'm SE so the weight is even .. and he might even have an advantage..
I have sunroof, leather, spoiler, fogs ..he has none of these.. so he has the advantage prolly..
also in terms of his being CAli car..vs. mine being FEd spec
you forget his car has 30K miles while mine has 100K miles..
I thing that more than makes up for the CA spec vs. FEd spec situations..
so really Synki needs to do better since he has the advantage in both situations..
Just wait till the spring chris .. i have a few more mods that just may make my slow four door car a little faster
BTW: 95se .. with CAI ran 15.68 @ 86.9 mph..
with flaming hot motor ..

Did i also mention that my whole.. yes whole trunk is dynamatted and stuffed?? I used almost 30sqft of dynamat, then you complain about weight. Dont forget that my trunk was flattened w/ wood for my system too. SO Ant, the weight is still close. Nothing personal, jsut business.

I only have GTECH numbers. So they are off.. With just JWT Intake 0-60 in 7.0 sec. I think thats pretty accurate. JWT Intake, Stillen Y-Pipe.. 15.1, 14.89.. I would think thats translates to about a 15.4.

with Stillen Y, and JWT Popcharger:
15.1's (consistent) @ 90.3-90.5 mph
With the above mods and JWT ECU and high stall convertor:
15.1's (consistent) @ 94-95 mph.
The pre-ecu runs were made on 225/50/16 Cooper Cobra's mounted to American Racing Pinzetti's
The ECU runs were made on 215/60/15 Toyo Proxes H4's, mounted on 94 Aluminum wheels. (no traction whatsoever)
Car is/was a 95 GXE auto with Security/Convenience pkge.

JimW, How well does that High stall convertor work on a front drive car like the Max? Is it worth the cost? What's the stall speed? Does it affect the Tranny or Drivetrain adversely?
Thanks

You can see the above post for the tire sizes. I had dropped the tire pressure to 25 lbs on the 16's. On the 15's, I dropped the pressure in several stages, the last runs were at 22 lbs. I just couldn't hook up, which is why my et's stayed the same as before the ECU, but the car picked up 5 mph in trap speed. Based upon my trap speeds, I should've been running 14.5's. Hell, look at my signature now, my A6 runs the same trap speeds that my Maxima did, just with perfect traction (gotta love quattro).
The convertor was only a 2200rpm stall speed unit. My tranny was rebuilt by a shop here in NYC that does HP transmissions, and has built several racing cars. It had the L10 clutch packs, shift kit, external cooler and convertor. In normal driving, you barely notice the higher stall speed. The car still "creeps" in gear, just when you mash the accelerator, the rpms leap to 22-2300 and the car takes off like a stickshift, instead of that automatic leisurely takeoff. With the higher stall convertor and my other mods, wider tires were needed. Traction was decent on the street, but on the strip, I had to launch at 1/2 throttle and bury the throttle after the 60' marker, even then, I would get wheelspin at the top of first, and right after the 1-2 upshift.
I must warn you, however. The automatic tranny is not very durable. If you frequent the drag strip, you will destroy it. I had made about 30-40 passes down the 1/4, and hundred of races on the streets, and after 83k, it bit the bullet.. If you plan on racing it regularly, you must at least add and aftermarket cooler
