I can't verify the part numbers, but I'm sure it's the same as the kits that I bought from Nissan.

Included was all of the hardware for installing pads. Shims, retainers, grease for the guide pins, anti-squeal lube for the pads. It's basically the hardware that keeps the pads in the proper position. Remember that they come in sets of 2, so you'll only need 1 for the front, and 1 for the back.

Whether or not you should get it depends on the condition of your current hardware. Look at the outer shim on your pads now, does it look like it's in bad shape?

If it's been a few years since the hardware has been changed, I'd say: go for it.

You might as well get the kits then. Call your local Nissan dealer, as you might get them cheaper there.

I'd get them. In fact, I got my old pads off, noticed that my shims were falling apart. That sucked! I had to put them back on, then head to the dealer to get the hardware kits.

I'd also pick up some extra anti-squeal compound too.

thx again sryth! btw, any recommendation on pads. i don't do any racing, just street driving, but i noticed that ever since i put on my 18" wheels the car doesn't stop as well. so i'm looking for something with a little more bite. based on all the forum discussions, i got narrow down to either axxis metal master or green stuff from tirerack. any insights into these two pads? i noticed that green stuff a lot more expensive compared to axxis pads and was wondering if there is a true benefit to kevlar pads vs. semi-metallic.

I'm not much help here, as far as experience goes. I've been sticking to the cheap pads until I get around to doing a brake upgrade. When I do the brake upgrade, though, I think I'll go with the Raybestos pads. They supposedly dust considerably less than the others.

You using OEM rotors?

Make sure you check the caliper pins when you do your brakes. I did the brakes on my I30 at 51k and ended up replacing both of them on the front left and right calipers for a total of 4 caliper pins. I got a set of 4 for $23.00 at Advance Auto, Pep Boys were $19.00 for 2. Rear caliper pins were fine. While you are at it you may as well flush the brake system. I went with Raybestos Quiet Stops (ceramic),
so far they are quiet but aren't broke in yet so I can't comment on dusting.

you mean the caliper pins are not included in the brake kit?

I doubt it, I think the kits are like $14.00 and it is for 2 calipers. I didn't get the kits as my pads came with self adhesive shims and synthetic high temp grease. IMO the only thing the kit would have provided are retaining clips and anti rattle spring / clip. It is worth a phone call to double check. You are finding out what I did, brake parts are not cheap!

i still have all OE rotors. i had them re-surfaced several times, but this time around i need to replace the front rotors as they are warped. i've heard both good and bad about brembo blanks, but i think i'll end up buying them since their relatively cheap. i saw an AIMCO rotors on autozone's website for $27.99 each. are these any good?

You can get Brembo vented front rotors from NOPI for $32.00 each. Their URL is www.nopi.com I have Brembos on the front, only been on a month but no problems so far. I would go with the Brembos at that price.

thx karguy! i was going to order from this (link below) group deal, but this is much better price! i wonder why so many ppl bought thru this group deal instead of buying it at NOPI? is there a difference other then the dimpled? may be a quality difference? i have co-worker who races a lot at the tracks and he says the bottom of the line brembo rotors are pretty poor quality. according to him, brembo makes a very wide range rotors, starting from very low end to very high end for racing. their high end rotors are top notch quality, however, the low end products are no better any other cheap rotors. it just carries the brembo name.

btw, any recommendation on pads (read my prior post above). i'm looking for something with a little bit more stopping power without a lot of brake noise. a little more dusting is ok, but i can't stand brake noise.

I got my rotors through the group deal you were considering. The Group deal rotors are cross dimpled, slotted, vented and plated. The Nopi rotors for the front are vented with no drilling or slotting. The rear rotors from the group deal are made by ECM and are cross dimpled, slotted, vented and plated. The rear rotors from Nopi are solid non vented rotor blanks which I chose not to use. They are $38.00 each. IMO the cross dimpled and slotted rotors in the group look great. I felt it was worth the extra money ($60) for the group deal. My cost was $200 plus $33 shipping. I installed Raybestos Quiet Stop Ceramic pads with the new rotors. This should improve braking, ensure quiet stops and minimize dusting. They are just about broke in and will be after our trip to the mountains in VA this weekend. I'll let you know how they do in the mountains.
