Are your tires spinning upon take off? Or are you just driving along, coasting and this happens.

I wasn't aware that the 4th Gen Maxima HAD TCS!?!?

Must be a GLE option?

I believe only the 99 Maxima GLE had TCS. I know mine does.

If you get vibrations, it could be your engine mounts? If your TCS and SLIP light are constantly on that means something must be wrong with the TCS system.

My 99 SE-Limited has TCS.

I think dopey max may have a sensor failing in his ABS system. The ABS and TCS work together. The traction control system uses the signals from the ABS sensors to detect wheel spin.

Might want to have the dealer take a look at your car. What puzzles me is you feel vibrations in the car. The only thing I can think of which would cause your vibrations would be the ABS system itself. It may be getting flase signals from a sensor and think you have a lock up condition and activation the ABS system. Of course your not on the brakes so nothing really happens but you may be feeling the vibrations of the stepper motor trying to pulsate your brake system.

I just had the same problem happen on my '02 SE today. It seems to me that the problem had something to do with snow/ice buildup in the wheel wells. Does your problem occur during/after snow?

Absolutely! If you get snow packed into the wheel and it manages to get behind the rotor where the pickup sits it could interfear with the sensor and cause the system to detect a failure.

We have a Passat here at work that trips the ABS system every time we bring the car through the car wash. Dealer told us it's common with that paticular year.

Does your "service engine soon" light come on at the same time? On my 99 Max SE, all three lights came on and the car started to stumble. When I check the ecu, it gave me a 02 01 and 06 07 (misfire cyl 2)and the standard 03 04 (knock sensor).

I replaced the ignition coil on Cyl #2, and reset the ecu and all was well.

I believe that the Slip and TCU comes on for some reason at the same time as the SES ( Must be sympathy )
