I was driving and my max just died on me. I went to turn it on and it started for just 2seconds and it dies. It sounds like its runing out of gas. But it has half a tank of gas. Its
a 96 with only 58,467 miles.

Read the FAQ, maybe its the Alternator, that was recalled for 4th gens...

 

I don't think it would be because of a recall. The recall was placed for 97's and I think 98's.

 

have you recently done any mods? make sure your intake and everything is connected?

is your CEL on? pull codes and let us know...

 

The only mod is a K-N air filter, that was two years ago. And all the lights on the dash look ok no worning lights at all. And what is a CEL and codes, like my cellphone

u gotta be more specific w/ ure prblem.... the car died in what sense? power went out? car stalled? blah blha blah?

 

what happens if you gas it and try to keep it running? My car did that before, and changing the fuel filter fixed it.

(sounds kinda like yer 'not gettin nuff gas' comment)

 

first it died in power and did'nt go no faster then 25mph. when i went to get off the the thruway at the exit it turn off. I tried to turn it back on and starts for about two seconds. If i step on the gas to try to keep it running it just dies Thats all it does it starts for two seconds and it dies like it has no gas.

 

Check for vacuum leaks in your intake.

 

maybe your gas gauge is broken and you really don't have any gas ... hmmmmm

 

i bet u need a new battery........this happened to me last month...at first i didnt know what was wrong...then i checked my altternator and i knew it couldnt be that so i knew it had to be the battery........check that maybe it jsut died on u like mine did.....hopefully that helps........
