Instead of a MAXIMA...

Hey,

If you were to buy a car, around the same price range, but you could not buy a Maxima, of any year, what would you get?

Or even within 5 grand of the price of a maxima. Just curious to hear what people like.

Haha, thanks a lot. You just costed me 5 bucks Nick. A friend of mine said that someone would say a VR6 within 8 posts, and I lost...

He's a huge Jetta nut, he has 3 of them.

yea before i got my 97 max, i was debating between the legend coupe and the maxima. I saw the engine and i knew it was totally different from the maxima and i didn't want to start all over knowing about my car...plus the cost was a little more than i could handle....

vr6 is weak, get a 1.8t if you want a VW.

I'd get a 95-98 Z28 Camaro, or an Eclipse GSX or GST

Acura 3.2 TL-S (only if they make a manual)

There are a few others, but I can't think of them right now.

Later,

I would get

An Acura 3.2 TL Type S, used with some high miles and it might be in the price range. I actually checked out the Jetta before buying the Max, felt like a solidly built car, but not enough oomph, and it was tiny, like the corolla I used to drive. Other car I would buy in the Max's price range is a 97-2001 Lexus ES 300 - wasn't the fastest car out there, but damn it was nice and oh so silky smooth.

HAHAHA-I test drove one of those when I was buying my max, I dont remember what year it was (maybe 94). It was two door, V6 6-speed. Quite fast, but didnt handle as good as the max, it was a very heavy car.
Looked really good though, had a new bright red paint job, but the guy was asking too much-like $18k and it had like 160k miles. Oh well I love everything about my max except that its automatic.
