Water Temp Issues

Ok guys I've been dealing with this for too long. My water temp gauge is all over the place. Sometimes it stays cold for a long long time. Sometimes it warms up to the middle, especially when I just ist idling. Once I start driving though it tends to go back down to C. With it moving like that I wouldn't think its my thermostat stuck open....I'm going to check my coolant tomorrow but I don't think that would be a big issue either.......so what do you guys think...I'd like to get it fixed just like everything else........

That sounds like you're thermostat is stuck open. The car heats up when it idles with no airflow through the radiator. When the car moves, it cools back down. As soon as you stop, it should start to heat back up again. Also, if the thermostat is stuck open, it should take a very long time to warm up a cold engine that was just started.

You won't destroy anything by having a thermostat stuck open. Since you're car takes so long to warm up the engine will be running rich for longer than it should. This could eventually lead to plug fouling and carbon deposits. All easily taken care of.

You're friendly Nissan dealer should have the thermostat as well. This is a very simple part and shouldn't cost an arm and a leg through them. Most national parts stores should have something as well (NAPA, Autozone, Pepboy's etc...)
