My Odometer is not working.
My Odometer is not working.
It all of a sudden just stopped. I bang the top of the dash and it will work for a little while then stop again. Just wondering if this is a common problem? Also what would cause this. Thx.
Yeah, very common among 4th gens...j/k If you don't plan to go back to the dealer anytime soon, don't get it fixed. Less reported mileage = cheaper insurance and maybe you will still be under warranty
But don't do that, its illegal and I'm not the one who told you to do that

If you are REALLY **** about this situation, here are a few things to check.
You will have to take out the gauge cluster to access the rear of the cluster. www.maximadriver.com has a write-up on how to take it out. Once you take the cluster out and disconnect the three connectors, take it to a well lit room and set the puta down on a table. Look at the back of the unit and make sure there are no fried "leads", the leads are the highway type looking things that are paper thin. If there arent, gasp.......you will have to take apart the cluster. Remove the oter clear cover and the black bezel as well. Then, remove the needles. I think www.maximadriver.com has directions for removing those as well. Then take out the needle stops and unscrew the gauge faces. Look around the odometer for any fried connections, loose wires, etc.
This is all I can tell you to check without me actually physically seeing it. If you decide to do this, take some pics and I will compare them to the gauge clusters I have here. BTW, is this a digital or analog odometer?
