Help Me Please!!!!!
Guys, I am in a very sticky situation. Let me tell you the story. I just got home from work (waiter @ a mexican restaurant). The restaurant employs a police officer on weekend nights to keep things under control because the customers there sometimes are wild. Anyway, when the restaurant closed today, i was waling out to my car and I heard a loud noise, like that of two cars making contact. I turned to where the noise was coming from and I noticed that one of the cooks had just hit the police officer's car in the right-left corner, it destroyed part of the bumper, fender, hood, and headlight in that corner. Then the cook looked around, and left because he thought no one had seen him hit the police officer's car. I walked to my car, turned it on, and let the engine heat up. Moments later, the police officer walks out of the restaurant and to his car. When he saw what happened, he was noticeably upset, he walked around his car a few times just looking at what had happened. (the cook was driving an 80's chevy blazer and the cop's car was a late 80's or early 90's ford escort). So i drover up the the cop's car and pretending that i didnt know anything, asked him what had happened. He was pretty ****ed and upset. Now, i didnt tell him who hit his car but do you guys think i should? If i do tell the police officer, then the cook will hate me forever and make it a miserable job for me, but if i dont say anything, i'd feel really guilty and i feel bad for the police officer, i mean, they risk their lives every day for measly pay to have that kind of stuff happen to them. What should i do guys? sorry for the long post.

the thing is that if i tell the officer, i think the cook would hate me forever and make every day working with him miserable. i mean, he could like vandalize my car or beat me up or something, im only 16 and he's in his late 30s

Tell the cop, have him seem like hes looking for the person who hit his car so that it looks like he figured it out himself. have the cop say to the cook that he has some buddy's who analyzed the paint chips or whatever and was able to narrow it down to a certain model and make. There should be damage or scrapes on the blazer, i dought the cook is bright enough to know the exact capabilities of the police in finding hit and run drivers. Screw the cook, think about it, how would you feel if some jerk smacked into your car and just drove off.
