got a code after replacing knock sensor. and a cel
got a code after replacing knock sensor. and a cel
i am reall confused now. I never had a cel before and after getting a 0304 i replaced the knock sensor and then checking the code after that, I get the 0305 code which is the EGR temp sensor and 1004 which doesnt even exist. Why would i get a code i never had after i replace my knock sensor? Can some please please help me out here. I"m scared to drive my car now. What exactly does the egr temp sensor do anyways?
have u reset the ECU? if not, you should....and here's what came up for 0305
Diagnostic Trouble Code 0305 points to a problem with the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature Sensor. This sensor is a thermistor (a resistor with a value which varies inversely with temperature). The EGRTS is used by the Engine Control Module to test the EGR system operation. Since the signal from the EGRTS is not used for engine operation your car should run perfectly well despite having the Check Engine Light on.
Possible causes of DTC 0305 include ...
- harness or connectors (The EGRTS circuit is open or shorted)
- bad EGRTS
- malfunction elsewhere in the EGR system
The EGRTS may be tested with an ohmmeter.
- at "D" degrees F the resistance should "R" (in Megohms) should be ...
D = 32, R = 0.68-1.11
D = 122, R = 0.09-0.12
D = 212, R = 0.017-0.024

so i should just leave it alone?

dont you think its weird that the code comes up after i replace the knock sensor? I have a stillen y-pipe and b-pipe and exhaust on my 98 maxima se. by the way, thanks for the write up. I appreciate it.

Bad O2 sensors will throw a knock sensor code. I would look into replacing your front O2 sensors on the front and rear bank of the y-pipe. Go to Autozone, PepBoys, www.foreignpartsplace.com , etc....
i dont have knock sensor code
