MY BROTHER'S OLD 91' 240SX HAD A GOVERNER AND WHEN HE GOT UP TO 120MPH, THE ENGINE WOULDN'T LET HIM GO ANY FASTER. DOES THE STOCK 95 MAXIMA HAVE THIS? I WAS CURIOUS IF IT DID BECAUSE ONE DAY, I GOT UP TO 125MPH AND I COULD'VE GONE FASTER BUT I WAS A LITTLE SCARED SO I SLOWED DOWN. IT SEEMED LIKE I WAS FLYING.

To answer your Q the GLE's have a speed limiter. I know the GXE's don't cause thats what I have but I forget about the SE's, I doubt they have one.

The SE does not have a speed limiter on it.

 

all SE's and GLE's dont have one. Some GXE's do. those without C+C (or is it S+C?) package dont have them. And if you had one, it would have cut in well before 125.

 

My 96 GXE has a governer on it. It cuts out at around 115. The first time that happened I thought I broke my car.

 

I HAVE HAD MY 96 GXE UP TO 120 SO I GUESS MINE DOES NOT HAVE A LIMITER.

 

My 96 GXE has one, it makes the car buck and sputter when you hit about 115, I'm going to take care of that by cutting the wires and installing a switch.

 

jamsan is right about that...although there has been lots of debates over it.

i have a 95 gxe without that package so i probably have a limiter but haven't tried to find my top speed. i used to want to do the switch for it but i figure i don't ever really need to be going that fast in my car and the only place i'd want to test it is at the track.

 

Actually the 240 governor was between 112 and 117. I had one and thats where it cut out. Took forever to get there though in that underpower 4 banger. But it sure did handle great!

Jamsan is absolutely correct. The other gentleman had it backwards. If you do a search, there are shortcuts to find out if you have one or not. For example, the original tire's speed rating is one.

If you do another search, you will also find ways to bypass the speed limiter too.

 

MY 95 GXE AND MY 97 GXE ALL HAD LIMITERS.. BUT ON MY 97 I FOLLOWED BEN'S ECU MOD IN THE FAQ AND I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GO AS FAR AS 140+ ITS PRETTY SWEET NO LONGER WILL I HAVE PEOPLE PULLING PAST ME WHNE I HIT MY LIMITER.. I CAN JUST PULL PAST THEM AND JUST BEAT THEMN TOP END, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE BOOST OR NITROUS YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU GET RID OF YOUR LIMITER
