I just got a black 5spd 98 Max Se for X-mas from my parents. I love this car. It is simply wonderful. I just intend to put some two small mods for now. I want to change the fog lights, but don't know exactly what kind to get. And secondly, I want to put metal racing pedals in too. Is there a certain size that they must be? Or drilled or something like that?

If you have the factory fogs, just change the bulb, and as the pedals, I have ones from pepboys, they are the same thing.

Yes, I do like the way the clear bumper lights look. Where could i get those, and how would i go about changing them? Plus do I have to get a certain type of blub? Or will any type/brand/wattage be fine?

Go to http://www.ebay.com for clear lenses. They sell for $20-40 which is pretty cheap. For installation, go to http://www.maximadriver.com for instructions.

clear corners

the clear corners make the ride look proper. every max i see around me doesn't have it which makes mine look so much sweeter. anyway..the installation takes about 2 seconds if you do it the WRONG WAY.. DO NOT JUST SNAP IN THE LIGHTS WHERE THE OLD ONES SNAPPED OUT...someone could just pop them right off.

you have to screw them in from underneath the car..you have to take like 2 screws out under the car just so you can reach your hand in there and screw them damn lights in.. pretty easy..just thought i would put in my 2 cents..

later

I wouldn't advise the pedal covers,

I drove my friend's prelude with pedal covers and it's great with rubber soled sneakers, but it's terrible with leather soled and other dress shoes. The original rubber pedals grip well to anything and give you a soft feel. With dress shoes, you can easily slip off the pedal and the soft feel is gone. You have to push harder on the clutch and gas to get a response.

pedals

I bought some Razo pedals. It does matter what size. Just ask pep boys or something and they can help you with some less expensive ones. I know that they're are some metal pedals called type R w/ 3 pedals that fits nicely into the car. IT cost around 40 bucks. If you want these, let me know. My friend got them. As for mine, I got some Hella sweet carbon fiber RAZO. It cost twice as much though.Lil Expensive but worth the style!

OK, thanks for all the info guys. As of now, I think I'm gonna change the stock fog lamp bulbs, then clear the front bumper lights. I stopped at pepboys earlier today, but wasn't sure what kind of bulbs to get. And also wanted to change the stock headlight bulbs too. I don't really know what I want though, what looks nice?

BlackMax

Hey Blackmaxima, the headlights on our cars are 9004's. Do you want the white "HID" look lights? If you do, then try Piaa Superwhites, Eurolites, Philips, etc. Some are better than others...the Piaa's are long lasting, but are not as white as the Eurolites. I have the Eurolites and I like them, they cost around $25. You should get the white foglights to match...I believe they are H3's, but check first. You will like the superwhite lights and the clear bumper lenses. Do these first, and then do some other performance mods later. Good Luck, feel free to ask more questions, and welcome to the Club!!

I was thinking of buying those Razo carbon fibre pedals but I wasn't sure how good they would be in the winter especially with the snow and ice that builds up on the bottom of your shoes. Has anyone had a problem with traction with these aftermarket pedals? Which pedals have the best traction.

do the clear first

I would suggest to change those ugly orangle lens to clear corners.. They especially make a black maxima look so much better. As for lights. That's up to you

I'm not much of a fan of buying things from ebay, had a bad experience with something i ordered from there once. Haven't done it since. Is there any online stores that would have them? And can a newbie who isn't much a DIY for cars, install them without much trouble?

yep

ok, the very first thing I did to my max was put in clear corners.. it is VERY easy, you need basically no knowledge of whats going on.. You can get them for like 20-30 on ebay, and just find a high feedback seller, or http://www.courtesynissan.com for like umm 45 I think? Very good looking, very cheap, very easy to install. My 1st mod hehe

On the topic of pedals, what about the 5th gen AE pedals? Whould they go on a 4th gen max? I heard the were just covers on the existing pedals. Anyone done this?

You can try http://www.street-beat.com and they are like $39 for the '95-'97 and $49 for the '98-'99. They also have Front Strut tower braces for only $35 but the wait for shipping is crazy for the strut bars. You don't have to know anything to be able to install the clears. Clear corners were one of my first mods.
