Mobiltek Valvebody Upgrade
Mobiltek Valvebody Upgrade
Hi,
I am doing a Mobiltek valvebody upgrade for my 1998 Maxima SE. I already got the core, so I will have to send my old one back as soon as I do the swap. Even though the instructions on the Mobiltek website are great, I don't like the drawings. Does anyone have pictures (not drawings) of the valvebody right when you remove the transmission pan? Other pictures would help also. If you do, just e-mail them or post a link. Thanks

Does anyone know if the stock solenoids and transmission gaskets are going to hold up to the extra fluid pressure?

just swappp everything over. they hold fine. no pics i went off the instructions on dons site. the only thing is that to free up the wire harness i had to take apart a few tings in the bay but thats about it.
I don't have pics either, but his instructions are pretty straight forward but hard to see exactly which ones he has highlighted. If you set your printer to really high resolution, you will be able to see it better. It's 13 bolts, but label and mark where they came from. They look similar until you take them out and you will see some are longer than the others. Also make sure and inspect your gaskets/connections BEFORE you put it all back in. If you have even one broken gasket, you will have problems.
It is not that hard, just have to be meticulous about the install to avoid problems.
One of the easiest gaskets to mess up are the two round gaskets that go between the VB and the tranny case up top. You will see them when you get the VB down. Make sure you inspect both of them. I had a cracked one and my car would not shift from 2nd up. Just 1-2 shift and that's it. It took me a case of fluid and 3 times tearing it all back down to find. Also make sure and NOT over torque the bolts on the pan. They need to be tight, but not super torqued down. The strip easily and can break off, and you will definetly have a leak. Also make sure and check that the linkage is on the right position, you can easily miss that and the car won't shift into gear.
Have I scared you off enough??? It's really not that hard, just make sure and follow the steps outlined in the instructions and you'll do fine.
